The only thing I was not happy with was that the bridge saddles, like some 4003s made after about 2005, rattled a bit when the strings were played. I dissasembled the bridge, wrapped a round of thin aluminum foil strip to the underposts between the holes and the trangles, and stick 2 tiny pieces of aluminum foil to the trangle bottoms. Problem solved!
I had the exact same problem on my new 4001C64. The E string saddle rattled around a lot. Fortunately I had the good fortune to have
Ken Joseph to fix the problem. He ended up getting a piece of brass to put underneath it so that it stopped moving around. I don't
think aluminum foil would have done the job, the gap was quite large. But it was quite annoying getting the buzz on that string. And as
a newer player I just assumed it was me until my instructor played it and we found the problem.

The Rickenbacker Fireglo color in particular is stunning!

Could someone tell me why/when Rick decided to change the design of the headstock? In my mid-90s FG headstock you can't see any difference in the headstock wood(s). :?:

The current headstock "design" with the contrasting walnut head wings is a salute to the olden days. Rick basses had these walnut wings on the headstock up to early 1972. They were a feature of the original 4004 Cheyenne and the vintage models (V63 and C64 series), and started showing up as "standard" again on all models in 2006. Apparently enough people asked for it, so RIC said "why not?".

The walnut wings were a very distinctive feature of the earlier basses and look better than ever today, on the current ones, too! :D
