I use an original 1959 Fender Bassman and more recently, my 1956 Danelectro Commando.

AC-30 amps are the right choice. I had a 1972 ric hooked up to the that amp and it sounded superb!

Hmmm ... how did I miss this thread?

Proof that modern tube amps rock, too!

AC-30's sound great with Rickenbackers. I use an old '62 AC-30 head and cabinet with my 365 and it sounds great when it's driven. One of the things I like about it is that you can cross-patch the channels on it like a Marshall.

I'm very happy with the tone of my 360 through an Egnater Rebel 20. Sounds good with the bright switch on which is surprising. I like it with the tube blend pot set at 1:00 (favoring the 6V6 tubes). My only complaint with the Egnater is that it only has one channel.

+1000. I love my Rebel 20. I have a small pedal board I use with it (Diamond compressor, MI Audio Crunchbox into the input, Timebender delay, Fender '63 Reverb pedal and MI Audio Boost n Buff in the loop) that get's around the only 1 channel thing. I plug it in to a custom made Bill Fitzmaurice XF212 cab with Emerson Tonkerlites for most gigs, but use a gutted AC30CC1 (amp chassis was put into a head) with the single 12" Neodog for smaller practices and gigs. Great little amps!

Man, that sounds like a killer setup, Dean...I have two Egnater cabinets. I play lots of different types of music, so my pedalboard has a weird selection. From left to right: BBE Two Timer delay, Boss SD-1, an AMT California Sound Distortion, Phase 90, Boss Chorus Ensemble, Univibe, and an MXR Flanger. I also have an Eventide Timefactor that I use in the loop.

I like it Tommy, thanks. Quite the board you have there. Here is my Egnater rig in front of my Vox rig, and my little board. The Eggie and the small pedal board take up very little room on stages.

We should play in a band together...our rigs are nice and compact...if we suck, we can get outta there fast
Tommy
So how do you overcome the single channel limit?

Lately I've been practicing bass parts in my room with a V63 through a '90's Blues Deville 4x10, low volume, a little reverb. Man what a sound. That's going to be the set up for recording.
For guitar, I like the AC-15 for recording, but live it's a little too bright (I turn treble all the way down, bass all the way up) and b@ll-less. The AC-30 is good at club volume, but still I turn the treble down.

Played my AC 30 CC1 for a while - still have it - then switched to a Blues Junior with great results for smaller venues. But now a friend of mine wants to sell me a Roland JC 55 - the smaller version of the huge and heavy JC 120, with two 8' in it and that fantastic real stereo chorus by Roland, with just a compressor in front it really turns me on, especially with the 360/12, bright, clear and jangly, bity with much and clear headroom; and that little beast is not so heavy like the JC 120. They are quite hard to get.
