The Rick 12 has a sound that is almost mystical, different than anything else I've ever heard on the planet. For me, it is the Holy Grail of guitar sounds and nothing surpasses it.

Thanks to all the forum members for advice and comments..
and my RIC journey begins:
Pulled the trigger on a new - 620/6 FG.
Haven't been able to play it even 30 minutes. yet..
Since I know the RIC addiction will likely progress me to : having BOTH a six string.. AND a 12 string..
I started the journey.. with a 6 string solid body. .. Most affordable for me.. and not a giant leap for a Tele player.. ..
My initial impression is: between the two high gains..This thing can ROCK.. there's quite a range of great tone to be had.. and the pickups push my little home built 5F2-a Fender amp .. anywhere from clean.. to driven! nice and ballsy - which is what I was hoping to be able to do..
so.. here I go.. and now I can start throwin' quarters in my jar... for a 360/12.... !

Mark -- Congratulations on your Ric acquisition !!!!
That is one beautiful, earthen-toned shade of FireGlo ! Gorgeous !!
I think we are all a bit relieved that you solved the 6-string or 12-string dilemma by deciding on the only rationale RAS-aholics choice ... to get both.
On the RRF, you will get all the encouragement you could ever need !
Enjoy that new Ric !!!

Congrats on your new Rick.Beautiful 620,love the full sized inlays.
In the whole discussion of 12 string Rickenbackers strung as a 6 string how come nobody mentioned Fred "Sonic" Smith's Rickenbacker 450 which is the most famous Rickenbacker 12 strung as a 6.

Even better yet, have two of each!
That was my solution!
And 620's rock... It was my first RIC back in 1982... and I have never regreted the choice to go solid body..

Interesting, I did the opposite. I just got a 620/12FG as a complemet to my Tele...
Although I have to say that the Tele does seem a bit agricultural now

Yep; I'm a complete slacker when it comes to registering Ricks: I have six of them, only one of which is a 12 string, and I haven't registered a single one of them. I've been pretty slack on photographing them as well...

Thanks Paul... That was me in 1984 at a Battle of the Bands fundraiser for UNICEF held at Westdale High School here in Hamilton. (the Rock band TEENAGE HEAD were the judges)...
The two guitars are my April 1982 JG 620 and my June 1980 FG 620 12 (ex Chris De Burgh)... Both were lost in that 1991 fire. David Coyle's 1982 JG 620 is just a few serial numbers away from my old one - made the same week for sure...
When my 1977 620 arrives from California next week... I will at last be able to recreate that image with the 45 year old me..
