Wow. Very nice. The walnut back in full CV looks great. I am undecided about the black pickguard - couldn't decide if I liked that or not. I tried imagining white and that didn't seem right either.

I wonder what the reason for this experiment was? Kudos.

CJ, you beat me to the too-wide skunk stripe joke.

Quite the beauty.

And I think the guys at RIC are also having a good deal of fun with the reactions to their experiments!

Just loving the debate over this one. I think it's great Ric offers these one-offs. A treasure for the winner.

I like the combination of colors on that one. Outstanding! :D

Maybe we should have a RIC "one-off" thread.
It would be nice to see pic's of all the one-off's for comparison.

You can find most of them here:

Although Craig doesn't seem to have a link for just the collection of one-offs...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Stunning bass! I'd drool even more if it had a neck toaster.

The best IMO--neck construction is what I have been hoping to see for over a year, fat stripe and all.

Congrats to JH, Ben, Eric, and the fine folks at RIC for creating a legendary instrument!!!

Fabulous!

It's nicely done, and that flame top maple is gorgeous, but the back kinda reminds me of my first skateboard..or my kitchen cutting board. It's very cool nonetheless, and something a bit different for RIC!I think that's the first time I've ever seen a Rick with a "cap" top different from the rest of the body.

Best of luck to you bidders. It will be interesting to see who wins this one. :D

Actually, the first batch (who knows how many) of the Cheyenne II were made this way (minus the center stripe) with a vivid quilt maple top. They retained the main body construction of the original Cheyenne with the walnut body and head wings. Seen photos of several, all Mapleglo, and only a prototype in person at the RIC office/museum that had a maple fretboard as well. Production models had the bubinga fretboard and the initial "lowered" pickup locations. I've always wanted to find one, but have only seen pix. Yum!
