Actually the 4008 had the octave strings on top - they reversed them for the 4003S/8 which is what the redneck is. I also prefer the 4008 octave on top arrangement.

And love that Redneck 8-string!

I really don't know what model it was, but it's the only 8-String Rick I've ever played and it was set up like the 4003S/8.

I totally dug the 8-String. I didn't quit enjoy the conversational response from the Rickenbacker staff though.
