Works fine for me.
This explains why it works now..............Scotty was using up all the bandwidth. His hamster has to work really hard to generate enough electricity to run his super computer.

Anyway it works fine now..................too weird.

Not too challenging, IMO.....Body Count posed a question and an answer in the same song.....Celion Dion was just "pure expression" (of a song she didn't even write).

To me, art that has the power to change minds and opinions easily trumps art of the sake of pure expression. Done!
Nope. Not by a long shot. Far too narrow, in my experience. There are those (of us) who would argue that Body Count perform art, and Celine Dion doesn't...which cuts your "Done!" off at the knees. And, once again, that's the challenge.

But I think I understand what you're trying to express here--art should alter our world in some way. If I had to put a finer point on it, I'd say that the greater the art, the greater the effect. Great art also has both timeliness and timelessness, because it captures the essence of a time and place, in a way that it can still be understood at great time and distance.

True, good points Paul.

I would even argue that all Celine Dion does is perform art.....other people's! Body Count must get some extra validity because at least the artistic statement that they are saying (regardless of how much it can change the public's opinion), is their own composition.

sidenote: If anybody likes mash-ups and wants to hear a cool Tupac/Alton Ellis mashup (Hip Hop meets Reggae/Rock Steady), search "Tupac Alton Ellis Nothin lke Rocksteady" into the YouTube search function......you must be able to handle foul language though (which is why I can't link to it here). :)

My mother told on Mother's Day that she would go see The Who.

My mom finally admitted in the mid-1990s that some of Paul McCartney's songs weren't so bad. And she actually liked "Liverpool Oratorio".

My mom with The Who?     Never!!!!!!

My mother only liked Classical, Broadway Musicals, and Americana/Folk like The Kingston Trio or Clancy Brothers.

This is so funny. I can picture my kid saying, "My mom is so cool. She even likes some Ice-T".

Sorry - late in here due to the time zone...

I hate anything that incites or celebrates violence and any music that is centred around the glorification of the "artist's" ego, and a reasonable portion of rap numbers fall neatly into these categories, but that definitely leaves the majority of the genre out there to appreciate (or not) on its merits.

But a serious question: do our mothers now appreciate rock because it's the only music loud enough for them to hear?

..only rap numbers?

Back in the '60s it was Street Fightin' Man...before that it was all the Wobbly stuff, the Horst Wessel Song in another time and place.

Additionally, IMO artists of all stripes are artists, if not for the glorification of their own egos, then in an attempt to quiet, punish, or satisfy them. Best to take things on an individual basis.

Nope, but we are talking about rap. There's a lot of horrid stuff of all genres out there ...

Yep, have to agree with that one. My profile says "Classical & Progressive Rock" so for me it goes without saying. To each his own, just keep it out of my living room, thank you.

How about this... "Anything but "music" with that stupid, overused, unoriginal, unmusical 60 Hz tone that vibrates my house windows when a car drives by..."
