Re: Janglebox!!!
Kira,
I ordered my JB2 directy from Steve Lasko in late February and it arrived in less than a week, which was just in time for my birthday. Yes, one of the major improvements is the standard pin-negative adapter (The JB2 will take a One Spot or its equivalent). There's only one minor inconvenience: in order to remove the battery, you need to take six phillips screws out of the bottom of the unit and then snap the battery out. It's pretty easy but a little time-consuming.
My JB2 has taken me into Byrds jangle heaven! I hope you get as much pleasure from yours as I have from mine.

Re: Janglebox!!!
Thanks, Robert!
Steve is at Summer Namm for a few more days, and that's the only reason is hasn't already shipped. He promised to have it out as soon as he returns home, in plenty of time before the confluence here later in July.
I'm sure I'll be thrilled with it!

Re: Janglebox!!!
I see where he's coming out with a new & improved JB2

I think I might wait until this unit hits the market and see what the reviews say.

Re: Janglebox!!!
I just asked Steve if these are available now and whether he could upgrade my order before he ships mine. Maybe I'll be the first on my block.
I'll let you know what he says.
If I get it , Jim, you'll have to come to the confluence to find out how good it is.

Jim,
Wow, already a new and improved JB2! I've been so happy with mine that I can't really think of any improvements I'd make. I'll have to check the Janglebox website for information about the new pedal.

Re: Janglebox!!!
Well, I see that a big improvement in technology on this new Janglebox is the knobs have clear indicator markers, that stick out, so us poor eye-sighted senior citizens can figure out what level the dials are set at.
Up to now, its purely an act of blind faith to set the levels on an Original JB in a dark stage environment, a rehearsal studio.... or even in my incandescent lit music room at home. Wonder if JB will sell conversion knobs to replace the naked knobs on the Original versions ??
(Forum member TEB had posted interesting pics on another thread of "mods" he did to his Original JB for this ... painting big stripes on the knobs, so the position is more visible.)
In a similar vein, I just ordered a few creme colored chicken-head knobs, to replace the critical Top Boost and Master Voume knobs (black are standard color) on my AC-30 CC2 for improving those "read in the dark" abilities... There are 10 black chicken-heads on a Vox CC2. If somebody would invent
"glow in the dark" replacement knobs for amps, loop stations and stomp boxes - they could probably make a killing in the market.... especially for gear enthusiasts who are over 40 !
Yeah, I know ..... somebody's going to point out that this is why the Flash Light was invented at the turn of the last century ....

Re: Janglebox!!!
Thanks for all the interest in our new JB2 Byrds which we just introduced at Summer NAMM. The picture Jim included is our prototype which was photographed by Premier Guitar for their NAMM Editor's Picks. The JB2 Byrds is so new that we haven't even had time to create any promotional collateral or add it on our website yet.
The JB2 has been very successful since its March 2009 release, but we wondered if having a full tonal boost (instead of our current treble boost) might be a desirable value-add. So we created the J-Boost tone control which activates when you turn on the JangleBoost. This gives you two sides with separate, adjustable tone and gain controls, and a shared attack control. Just one more weapon for the lead guitarist… lol!
We wanted to gauge consumer interest at NAMM, and we were very pleased with the attention and comments it drew. Because it's really more of an upgrade, I decided to pay tribute to my favorite group rather than call it a "JB3".
We expect availability to be late summer/early fall. No final decision on price yet.

I like it, Steve. Very nice way to pay tribute to your favorite band. Is McGuinn going to get the prototype? Does he use the JB 2 at all?janglebox wrote:Thanks for all the interest in our new JB2 Byrds which we just introduced at Summer NAMM. Re: Janglebox!!!
Jake, Roger uses the JB2 in his studio. We're keeping the JB2 Byrds prototype to tweak before we go into full-scale production, but we made something else especially for Roger.JakeK wrote:I like it, Steve. Re: Janglebox!!!
I too love the Jbox. I note that it seems to boost the toasters more than the hi gains. Has anybody noticed anything similar?
Re: Janglebox!!!
Forgive me if I'm being an idiot, but isn't that what a compressor does? Boost quiet things louder, cut louds down to size? It would make sense to me that it boosts a quieter pickup more than a loud pickup.Janglyman wrote:I too love the Jbox. I note that it seems to boost the toasters more than the hi gains. Great Ramp In My Opinion.
