Not sure I understand your comment on muting the bridge on the Gibson as they don't have a cover, at least that I know of. My LP doesn't.
Well i'm just used to resting my hand on the bridge from playing the Gibson so it dosen't really bother me.
Your maple looks real nice with the Toasters, actaully. I prefer the silver topped knobs though.

Thanks. On both my 480's, they're toasters (12k's) in the bridge positions, but actually Ric HB's with toaster covers in the neck positions. They add a lttle extra sustain and punch (IMO).
As for the knobs, I'm more of a vintage fan, but to each his own, right?

Interesting! The headstock on that has a similar thing going on that my March '73 4001 has, one wing has a lot more grain/flame than the other one, on the same side, too!

Yea, it's got a nice flame going on. I really love the way that Bass style headstock looks on a 6-string, it's easily my favorite Ric design ever.

This was posted over on the other Ric forum, but heres a 480 sighting in it's natural habitat.
Tim Christensen is playing a JetGlo 480 in this live performance.

That video has me curious now. If you pause it in the right places, you can see he's got a 5th knob above the pickup switch. What's also odd is the neck, it could just be the video but i'd swear its fatter than a normal 480 neck. It looks like it has the same width at the base, but then no taper what-so-ever up the neck.

Nice tune and vid. I watched the this one and it has stills with him and two other 480's. One looks white with black PG and TRC (though it's a B&W photo, so it may be MG or something else) and the other in FG. It almost looks like the white one has the 5th know and the FG has it too. Maybe it's a blend knob like other Rics, or it may be a volume control, making it easier to access while playing, like you can with your little finger on a Strat.
BTW, this is a nice tune too:

Yea, I think it was just the motion and video making the neck look weird. Here's some other pictures of him with the white 480, you can see he's got a 5th on it too in the same spot. He seems to use the White one alot, i've only ever seen one other White Ric and it was a custom refin. I think it's registered here.

Found a video with the White Ric, some good closeups.
I never really liked the inverted pickguard/TRC combo, but i've gotta say it looks really sharp on that White Ric.

The one I have for my 480AG is not the raised inverted, but actually a vintage style plexi with the ink inverted (white printed letters and black printed background).
I feel bad as it seems we've taken over the photography thread with 480 love!

It dosen't seem like theres alot of these floating around, so I thought i'd take a picture of mine. This is my "Deluxe" style 480 case that came with my guitar, and unlike standard Ric cases it has a form-fitted interior for the 480. As far as I can tell it was avilable as an option for extra money.

Today, we're here in a backyard located somewhere in the United States, hunting the elusive Rickenbacker 480. We've got a special treat for you boys and girls, a rare photograph of the 480 in it's natural habitat, attempting to blend in with its wooden brethren.

Looking at these beautiful 480s makes me wish Rickenbacker re-issued some of these classic models. It's too bad they can survive off of 330s alone.
