What would be much more interesting is metallic orange to MID or something like that - that would really be spectacular, imo!

Totally serious - will there be a "Midyear Green" transition zone when it goes from "Midday Orange" to "Midnight Blue"?
I never asked people to make guitars in dentist colours, yet they exist in all their awfulness:

Hey! Don't knock Sea Green. A few of us out here love it! (OK, Steve Woods and me, but . . . .)

I don't agree to the orange to mid burst, but a metallic orangeglo would look super.
I bet it'd be a big hit in the Netherlands, no?

I like the
art deco finish on my Soviet Bulgarian-made Orfeus Hebros bass - in fact this was the only reason I bought it. Imagine a 360WB with this paint job:

If the register is a good indication I buy most Rickenbackers in Holland.

I would not buy one.

Since this thread has turned into a full-blown discussion of finishes in general, I wanted to ask about AzureGlo. Everyone goes on about it, but it just looks like good ol' blue, nothing fancy. So why all the hub-bub, bubs?

Well, there's blue, then there's blue. And then again, there's blue too.
Azureglo is just a particular shade of blue, and typical Rick fashion, not always the same exact shade, especially after age, etc. set in. I think the big deal about it is that it's a relatively rare color...
This pic of mine captures it's shade pretty well (at least on my monitor):

Um, yeah. That's the ONLY one I've got without woodgrain. It was just too good a deal to pass up - $700 - three years ago...
