And, if I remember it correctly, it has a rebuilt old Horseshoe (magnetized) pickup. Rebuilt and refinished by Dale Fortune (it used to be a Fireglo V63).

A paperclip on the shoes would tell.

I love white w/ black trim. Add in the full inlays and the vintage neck pickup spacing and you have perfection!

Yes, got that, my memory of the description of the pickup when it was sold to me isn't clear. I can't remember if the pickup was rebuilt from old parts or perhaps it is all original. Don't know my pickup anatomy well, I'm afraid.

Looks like I need to do more 'splainin'. This started life as a Fireglo 4001V63. Sean Kelly sent it to Dale Fortune to have it customized. Dale stripped it and shaved the neck to a thinner profile, "stained" the bubinga fretboard and head wings to a dark dark brown, then refinished in a non-yellowing snow white. I think the position markers were also replaced. As I said, the Horseshoe pickup is the old original style, not the reissue, but I can't remember if it was assembled from parts or all original. I bought it from Sean in January 2008.

Nice. While I have entertained - and been sensibly talked out of - refinishing my 68 several times. IF I were to, it would come out like this.

$2125 - reserve not met. Huh. I should have skipped the second V63 and went for this. :( I really thought it would go a lot higher.

Oh well...

Still, I'm surprised this one is still below the reserve. Might actually end up being a good deal...
