Sounds like things are looking up-cool! Yeah, order another set and see what happens when everything adjusts like it should. Pics pics pics!

That's good news, Ben. Thanks for the update. I was not told that when I spoke with someone named Richard. Looks like I'm just out a set of strings, for which i'm being reimbursed. Do I dare order another set at this point?

This information was not known at the time I spoke with you.
It's all good, Richard. I'll try the TI flats some other time.

I put TI's on my C 63 and have not noticed any problem. Sounds like there was something stuck on the truss rod and it wasn't the strings.
I found the guitar sounds much more vintage with the flatwounds. I don't have flatwounds on my other RIC's, but the TI's on a C63 are Nirvana.

I second that! Your C63 is a dream to play! Thank you again for letting me give it a pick and a strum at BARC!

Mike, it sure looked and turned out to be a truss rod problem than any inadequacy of design or instrument. Enjoy that puppy when it gets back to you!

I use TI flats on my 360/12V64 (1987) and won't use anything else. My tech does not like them, and he always breaks one of the high E strings when he installs them. His favorite 12-string set is the Curt Mangan nickel-wound Pick of the Ricks set, but I prefer the TIs. It's not HIS guitar, it's MINE!
My point, don't listen to non-Ric techs, listen to Paul W, Larry Davis and other skilled Ric luthiers. They know what's best!

Yes, a truss rod problem on a brand new guitar was the problem, and not the fault of the TI strings. Now I'm right back where I was a month ago when I bought it, wanting to have it set up with a set of TI's. However, now I have to reorder another set, wait for them to be shipped here, deliver them to the shop and have the tech go through another setup attempt. Maybe this time it will successful.

Is this the first time someone's warranty work was so publicly discussed (in real time)? It's nice of RIC to be so open about it.

I just received the guitar back yesterday. It still looks stunning. I'm not too crazy about the strings on it but they will do for now. I'll attempt to have the TI's put on again when it's due for a string change, as I am still owed a setup from my dealer. I'm happy that RIC fixed the truss rod issue, as my dealer was very reluctant to remove the truss rod on a brand new guitar and was being on the safe side by contacting RIC to address the issue. I'm really glad it was not the strings, as I was originally told.
