Send it to me. I'll record it for you!
I'm closer, send it to me!
Eh, no cuttin' in, I asked first!

I got the price knocked down after I discussed with them the differences between a Cheyenne and a Laredo. The folks at Ed's were really helpful. They said I could return it if I didn't like it, but once I had it in my hands, and played it, it was a keeper.

I got it mainly because of the color. I hadn't seen any FG 4004's at all. I think Dane got the only one! The 4004's that I had looked at last year, both new and used, just weren't available in any finishes that appealed to me. RIC should sell these as builder basses. No routes, no finish, just everything you need including a finished fretboard, and you put in pups wherever you want, and whatever finish you want.

John - congrats, what a fantastic bass! The 4004 series basses are my favorites. I have a 4004Cii Mapleglo, and I have a 2nd Cii due to arrive tomorrow.

Dane, great job - thats some outstanding work!

The only change I'll make is I'll be wearing my Chuck Taylor hi-tops instead.

That is very cool. Dane, I have two questions.. well one question and a favour actually. What is the brand of that guitar stand? and can you post a better picture of that white guitar in the 1st spot on the rack along with a description. I dont recognize that .. looks like maybe it started life as a 620???

The brand of guitar stand is Quilok, and the guitar in question is a custom double neck made from 2 3000 basses, a 3001 neck and a bunch of RIC parts.

Thanks for the pics and the info. This guitar is freaking amazing looking. How long did this take to build? I presume its not for sale? So cool...

I probably put it together over a period of 6 months or so, then had it refinished, which took another month or so to get back. Even then, like other projects I've had, it was a work in progress. I eventually replaced the 3000 bass neck with a 3001 neck that was longer, so I could get 24 frets on the same short scale and have the neck route deeper into the body, which looks a lot more balanced with the 24 fret guitar neck. Since I don't actually use it right now, it is for sale (or trade) actually.

Those Quiklok stands are near impossible to find in music stores. At the NAMM show, i saw that Hercules Stands has come out with their own version of that type of multi guitar stands. They looked pretty good and versatile for diffeent types and shapes of guitars, but they didn't have rollers wheels.

Yeah I called a local outlet of the nation wide chain here in Canada. I enquired about a GS-450. The guy told me that his purchasing dept. had "Deleted" them from the inventory. I asked if that meant the product was deficient and he said generally thats the case or that the company was difficult to deal with. I can't imagine there would be a problem with the stand.. I mean what could go wrong? :|

I got my stands, like most everything else I buy, off of Ebay.
