That's a great line! I may need to borrow it.

But what happens when Blue Turns To Grey? :)

I believe lack of new product has something to do with lack of participation. For those who have been around long enough remember when the C Series was announced, this place was buzzing. Same when the 75th Anniversary was announced. I will admit that all the buzz wasn't very constructive, but it made for lively discussion.

I also think that some of the topics are constantly re-hashed and those who would normally post a reply just pass right on by. For example "Groovy Beatles Pictures" how many of the same picture can we post? That thread seems to be in a constant state of "drift." Just my opinion.

Let's not confuse "rate of new posts" with "enthusiasm".

As a relatively new member, I find that I can learn an awful lot just by 1) lurking and reading; and 2) searching. There's an amazing amount of information and expertise available here! I think I count as "enthusiastic", even though I don't post a lot.

With that said - the enthusiasm here is obvious any time there is any kind of a new product. For example, check out "Horseshoes Available" in Rickenbacker Basses if you doubt this; note how quickly said items were sold out after they were mentioned here.

Were John Hall even to hint that the backlog had been whittled down so that RIC could think about producing some different models (4003S FL, please, please?)... better buy a new server and some disk drives to handle the resulting volume of discussion!
Turn on, tune up, rock out!

Over the last couple of years, this website has expanded to so many sub-forums that I think it appears to be a bit watered down. At first, I didn't like this format, but it has grown on me. Instead of scrolling through 1 forum for a topic I am interested in, I can specific multiple topics. But it does seem to take more time, and I'm sure I'm miss good topics. I often see thread topics in the wrong sub-forums. The Marketplace is one example, whether it's a new member or not. I think there are too many right now, but I wouldn't suggest which ones get condensed -- too difficult a choice. So I think the interest is still there, and probably more so now than ever. You just have to search a little more.

One thing to remember about traffic amount is a few years back we had a huge influx of new members (myself included), it was RIC's 75th Anniversary, the Annie models were released, we had COY models, and the SoCal Confluences were huge and attracted a lot of people. Those in and of themselves generated a lot of enthusiasm and posts.

+1 to that!

Where do Peter and Paul (20,000 + posts) find the time! ? !

As for me, I went a little nuts in the beginning and have had to take a pause to let my GAS subside a bit...
