Carpet Crawlers?

Who's 4002 was it? Dave's? Jason's?

Good question, JB. I think it was Jason's. And yes, Carpet Crawlers, or some semblance to it, anyway (I hadn't played that song since the late '70s)!

Dave's bass was visiting PotR. As was I. Lovely it was, absolutely lovely.

You know, it may have been Gary Clauson's 4002. Did he have it back then?

I loved it! I was hoping Dave would go temporarily insane and say to me, go right ahead and take it home! 8)

They are great,i loved the ebony fretboard, bound headstock and especially the pickup placement on this model, which is why i went mental 8) when i first saw Dane's 4002v57 re-creation with the same pickup placement on a modded Laredo.

Update to gigging: you will recall from my earlier post about getting my bass and gigging with the M-Dock band. Well, their bass player of the last several years died of a stroke suddenly this summer. I have been recalled. One of the first gigs we did was a 20th anniversary show of the band, with as many folks in turn as have ever played with the band. Pure chaos, but loads of fun. Well, of course, with horns, and being twenty years ago today, they opened up with Sgt. Pepper and a few other Beatles songs. The place was packed. With the crowd noise and the warm up, and the horns had done their homework, it was just downright scary how much we sounded like the record. And no, it wasn't a 4001 with flats, but it was my 4002 holding down the fort. Let's see: with horns, proper arrangements, the rest of the guys having done their homework properly, and I got to play live: Sgt. Pepper, Back in the USSR, Get Back and Got to Get You Into My Life (a hybrid album/movie arrangement)...Damn! OK -- I'll say it -- better than sex.
