Well I've finally got it back and complete! Big thanks to Ken Joseph, who custom made a metal piece to use as a truss rod spacer. Since the rods adjust at the body, and are spread much farther apart than headstock-adjusting ones, a custom piece was needed, since replacements from this transitional period are nearly impossible to come by. I've got it wired up as a 4001v63 would be, with toaster, horsie, and mono output. This thing clanks way better than any Rick bass I've ever owned.

Thats nice! Do you ever plan on having the fretboard replaced to make it "Quite the S"?

The bass looks great, Jason.

If you go with Ivan's suggestion make it a fretless bass with no dots on the fingerboard.

The HS pickup looks perfect, now get out that router/drill/chisel/hammer/whatever and move that toaster pickup to it's
proper location!

It's the opposite, trim-wise, of the 1993.
Your bass has standard features on the body, and deluxe features on the neck, whilst the 1993 has deluxe features on the body and standard features on the neck.

Fretted!

, and I agree with the toaster position.

Well it's different, but cool having the triangle inlays with the S body. Enjoy it, Jdog!

Stunning bass and wonderful mod. I've always preferred the S body. I also prefer dots to triangles, but I LOVE the bound neck on the unbound body. Anyway, it looks awesome. I'd love to know how it sounds.
