The first 2 likely means 1952. I've got a 1958 console steel that starts with D8, and I know they did use that sort of coding for a while in the 1950s. You could take it apart and check the date codes on the pot to get a better idea. Of course, that could have been bought well in advance of its manufacture, or it might have been replaced at some time, so that might not be terribly reliable. But, it's worth a look. Forget the decoder- this is 1930's era. No one knows now how those serial numbers were derived.

Gruhn Guitars did the appraisal. I've got it listed on ebay now. It's going to be interesting to see what it does.

Therefore it could be dated as early as 1932, so let's say 1930s vs. 1950s.

Funny, I just found this string. I was the high bidder on ebay when he pulled this. No explanation, nothing.... pretty lame. What gives? :evil:
