Seriously though, I may be heading through Vegas in a few weeks -- I'll give you a call, I'd love to see the show!
I'll let you try on the Hamer while you're here. Think two or three '70s Les Pauls over your shoulder at the same time, and then standing for five minutes at a time (during Pat's monologues).
I just texted my initials to you, to make sure your phone is the same. Keep me in the loop!

Yep, got it -- thanks!
Yeah, I remember playing the Hamer when you first borrowed it (in LBC). That thing is seriously heavy. Rick Nielson must be the buffest dude alive.

I think you mean Tom Petersson. He's closer to your build than mine, actually.
It makes all the difference if you're playing a regular set and are basically non-stop. I've played the Hamer in that context and it's bearable. Just not when you have to stand still for a few minutes at a time.

Ah, yes -- I forgot Tom also plays Hamer. I was thinking of Rick's 5-neck Hamer model, which must weigh a metric ton too!
Even a 70s Les Paul or Telecaster is pretty heavy over a full set. I'm used to semi-hollowbody guitars.

Hey, if you're still there when SCARF rolls around, I'll probably be coming through Vegas on my way down. Not sure if it's a convenient stop-over place though...

Is there a tentative SCARF date yet? August-ish?

There's been a few hints at late Aug, early Sept, and even a couple of votes for early Sept, but I don't think anything is official yet...

Just returned from Vegas and totally enjoyed the "Confessions of a Rock Star" show last evening ! !

Kenny was an awesome contributor to the success of the performance !
Pat DiNizio is a great story teller and he totally engages the audience with his anecdotal stories, from playing air-guitar as a kid, and going from a career as a garbage collector in the Bronx, to overnight success with a Top 10 song at the age of 31 ..... and graduating throught the ranks of rock stardom, meeting people like Paul McCartney and Buddy Holly's widow and being an opening act for The Ramones, playing Radio City Music Hall, etc. etc.
Kenny and Pat sounded fantastic playing and singing together !! All kind of great songs they played from The Smithereens catalogue, Beatles, Stevie Nicks, the Ramones, a totally wide spectrum of songs/artists that influenced Pat along the way. Kenny and his Ruby 2030-12 really cut through the mix and carried so many of the songs. Kenny definitely created a "wall of sound" with that 12-er and the Paul W. custom work looked absolutely stunning under the stage lights ! That headstock is so cool to see in person ! When he wasn't playing the Ruby, Kenny had his trusty MG 4001, that sounded great too. Both Kenny and Pat were playing through Orange heads and cabs, but couldn't crank them much, in the smaller venue....
Anyone who can -- get to Vegas pronto, as their show is going to wrap-up soon !! You will totally enjoy it !!

Thanks again, Kenny !

Luckily I didn't see any such signs and snapped a few...
(Doing his Shakespearean rendition of The Ramones' "Beat on the Brat"
(With a random audience member guest starring on the cowbell. Dude turned out to be a drummer.....go figure...)
