Tony couldn't have been referring to me, he only got the last part of his description correct.

I love the Vintage Ricks, love the 4001 and 4003, and the FL's too! BUT, I'm getting another 4004cii when the $$$$$ is available.

I agree with Tony. A cii will most definitely be my next addition. Hopefully, a Fireglo with killah flame. Although I own a '95, (with the neck that is too fat, the maple fretboard which adds too much bright tone) nothing about this bass has prevented me from coveting another. On the contrary.

When you decide to pull the trigger, pictures are a must! Best of luck, and welcome to the club.

I'd played that 4004L when it was Erik's and he lived in So Cal. That's a great bass. If you ever get tired of it, let me get first shot at it!

For Sure! If not for You, Tony and Erik, I would have had to limp into this club with a lot less knowledge. Fortunately, I have been able to collect a few gems and I have not forgotten where they've come from.

PS: Hope all is going well with you and Diane, and you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. 8)

I don't play with a band, but I play at home, and it is when playing along to music that my Cii really excels.

Agree to disagree... I've played a half-dozenish and don't get the "dark" comment whatsoever. The pickups are the biggest limit (IMO).

thanx everyone. i got a tip for pickofthericks.com. he had a 2008 4004L in mapleglo and says they go fast-so do i. so when it comes to basses im a ric man-light, that TONE and it just feels right in my hands-but for guitars, gibson les paul standard all the way-and trumpet and flugelhorn, yamaha-they take a real beating and are top of the line workhorses. when it comes in ill post a pic. cheers, and thanx joey for convincing me. i'll be coming to you from time to time with questions.

So when the statement is made about new 2-piece necks are they the narrower sting spacing of the 4003 or just thin front to back? I had an '08 Laredo and it was wide and thin. I always thought a narrower fret board on these would be nicer to play. As far as cii being darker I don't see it from a construction standpoint. Walnut is dense and tends to be fairly bright actually. If it were a mahognay sandwitch that would be different. :?:

From what I've heard, the new 2-piece neck is exactly the same as what is used on the 4003...
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...
