X2 wireless receiver>Sadowsky pre-amp(side chain to Boss tuner - out of signal path)>EBS OctaBass>Boss bass synth>HBE Hematoma overdrive with clean boost>Boss bass chorus>Aphex Punch Factory compressor/DI.

Pretty darn happy with everything but the EBS. I got a better sounding, better tracking sub octave out of my Digitech bass synth wah, but it died.

I can't recommend the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe highly enough - great pedal, tracks well and is fairly compact.

Sounds awesome with my Ric too!

When I saw RTF a few months ago Stanley used one with his tenor bass for most of the show for the bass end of things when he wasn't soloing higher parts.

Just ordered a Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B and am considering ordering a Phat Phuk B - can't wait for this to arrive!

Anyone had any experience of W&C?

I've played the Pickle Pie B, Tall Font Russian, and The Box of War. Each is an outstanding pedal in it's own right, but I think the Pickle Pie B is the best of the bunch. The company has excellent customer service and high build quality, hopefully it will suit you!

Woohoo - that's what I was hoping to hear!

Have to say was suitably impressed by the youtube demo of the Pickle Pie - despite sound quality being questionable through laptop speakers. Would also be keen to try a Phat B before buying but not easy as no UK stockist (to the best of my knowledge!?).

Hopefully you aren't looking for something subtle, because I'm not sure the Pickle Pie will do that, it's more of an aggressive sizzle kind of deal. It's a bass targeted clone of the swollen pickle, and both pedals push our some serious low end bloom and the bottom of the filter range... don't blow any speakers up.

No UK dealers to my knowledge, have to buy direct or via someone who will ship internationally.

I don't want subtle!

I was hoping it'll be the right sound for things like Feeder - Buck Rogers (amongst others that totally escape me for now).

I use a micro q to give it alittle more pop i like to slap and tap so its a nice tone changer. I also like to have alot of highs. But as with most effects i run it through my carl martin compressor and it gives a nice tone. I also use a whammy pedal which helpe me solo like a guitar without switching instruments i need to cover alot of sounds because i am a solo act with loop pedal. I love the dual output for added clean signal i have a couple of loops within the effect chain that route the clean signal back ito the overall sound about two or three times effects always sound much better with a great deal of clean input.

Here's a pic of my pedal board in it's current configuration - have to say I've been trying a few variations of pedals over the last few months and this seems to be what I'm happy with (for now!):

Once I'm sure that I'm happy with it I plan on replacing the patch leads with George L's and relocating the Diago Powerstation on the underside of the board.

Here's an old track, funnily enough it's mostly Rickenbacker bass without effects, which might make some people mad, but I turned on the moogerfoogers for a couple of seconds, so it counts!

I think I got a pretty unconventional 4001 sound on this one, but those of us in the know understand that these aren't one-trick ponies, right?

I think I got a pretty unconventional 4001 sound on this one, but those of us in the know understand that these aren't one-trick ponies, right?

I'm really pleased pleased with both of the wren and cuff pedals - the Phat Phuk in particular is really useful and to be honest I have a tendency to want to leave it on for most of the time - it really just seems to open up the mids and also add just a little grit to proceedings (it's actually quite subtle but at the same time REALLY noticeable if you understand where I'm coming from)? The Pickle Pie on the other hand is anything but subtle - it really is a great fuzz pedal that cuts through the mix - I particularly like the wet blend function as well - all in all I'm really pleased with both pedals and will definitely be keeping them.

Just had a listen to your Soundcloud track - really nice playing (by all three of you) - for my ear though, and with your busy/quality of bass lines, I'd have preferred to hear the bass a bit more in the overall mix - I think you've done a good job there! Really cool playing. Shame there's not a thumbs up smily!

I would love to be able to remix the track, but this is one of my earliest studio recordings, and the files I have are only stereo mixdown, not individual tracks. I had no idea what I was doing back then (10 years ago!!!) and the engineer was a guitarist (I love and respect the guy so I won't stoop to calling him a guitard...)

The wren & cuff stuff sounds cool - a different overdrive is tempting, though the Fulltone Bassdrive still works for me. I don't need another fuzz - between the Z Vex Woolly Mammoth & Mastotron I feel like I have my fuzz needs covered - and can't forget the Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz!

I know where you're coming from regarding the the remix, one of my favourite recordings (and oldest) is lacking a bit in the bass department - I suppose I was young and wasn't firm enough with the guy that mixed it! Live & learn....

Very tempted to try/source a Woolly Mammoth - just the price of them over here is shocking £310 GBP , have considered buying one from Ebay from the USA but shipping and then duty doesn't make it much cheaper. At the moment I've got GAS for a HBE Hematoma - but it seems they're only available in the USA too!? I've got a couple of effects pedals up for sale on another UK based Bass Forum, so will hopefully free up some funds and then have to make the decision as to what to buy - always nice to be able to try before committing though.

The Woolly is very cool - the thing that makes it unique (to me) is the "pinch" knob which introduces a noise gate. I guess I'm actually pretty lucky to have pedals that I know and trust - pedal GAS is dangerous because they seem more affordable than basses or amps, but they add up quickly!
