Here she is!! Man, is she gorgeous or what?? I'm going to tune her in the morning and she how she sounds before I depart on a "business trip" for the next few days. So for I'm thrilled with her. There seems to be a small issue with the machine head screw that appears to attach the actual head portion to the shaft on the A string. The screw sticks up out of the recess and the opposite end of the shaft sticks out of the gear body further than all the others. The screw is not loose. Suggestions??

Here are a few fotos I took once I took her out of the shipping box. Enjoy.

so is it just my monitor or is that chrome hardware and no walnut sandwich on body making this a 4004L?

I just went back and looked at the original RIC outlet auction and see it's black hardware. Help me out here, what makes this a 4004cii? I thought the distinguishing features of the model are gold hardware and laminated body. Agreed that this is neither Cheyene or Larado in stock form, so give it a special factory designation - 4004TV or something. Sorry not a cii just cuz the factory says so.

Nice looking guitar with the ebony board stored from the 50's

Well, as John Hall said here:

It's technically neither an L or a Cii because it has features of both...

Love that ebony fret board!

Guys, When I first saw the TV Yellow basses POTR was selling I liked he color and I stated somewhere here that it would look killer with black hardware. When I saw this one of kind 4004, I knew I'd have to make a serious bid on it!! I'm not a fan of gold hardware so I was very happy to see black tuners, tailpiece, knobs and of course the fretboard.

Luckily I snagged it! It's been sitting in my home for 20 hours or so and I'm leaving today for a short period so I had to tuner her up, plug her in, and give her a go. I am most definitely happy with the sound! I had no time for a side by side comparison but the 4004 sounds louder and more full than my 4003's, and I have not yet played it though my Orange AD200b mk3 yet.

I think I have a tuner issue on the A string since as I was bringing it up to pitch it felt a bit crunchy and it's most definitely not a smooth as the other tuners. It's the same tuner with the screw/post issue that I mentioned earlier. I'll contact RIC when I get back for advice on it.

It plays amazingly! I believe it is the same neck profile as my new 4003. I ripped through 3 songs with ease. The ebony fretboard looks like a slab of slate! The fret markers are a perfect contrast to the deep black board. The color is wild. It looks goldish sometimes, depending on the light, but the cool part is the woodgrain that shows through the translucent finish. The walnut headstock wings are a very nice accent to the finish.

So for now, it's back in the nice vintage style case I selected until I return on Sunday to tool around with it more. Oh, I need to figure out a way to explain it's purchase to my wife when I get back. I'm hoping she'll be so happy to see me that she won't care!!

Thanks Mr. Hall for making this one available!

Sepp

Joe, can't wait to hear more reports...

I think it should be designated as a 4004CL(Cheyenne Laredo)

Don't worry. There are plenty of folks here who would be willing to take it off your hands.
