What month is your 82 JG 4001?

That's a good question, Brian. I don't have the bass around at the moment because of the recording session; it's still with the rest of the gear. I'll be sure to record the information on the jack-plate, take some photos, and submit it to the registry soon.Ontario_RIC_fan wrote:What month is your 82 JG 4001?
It's a 4003. You can tell by the 2-piece pickguard (as shown in the picture by the extra screws just above the pickup switch). Early 4003 basses had the old style truss rods, but reversed them so that the adjustment was under the pickguard. They made it in 2 pieces so that it would be easier to remove to make adjustments.DriftSpace wrote:That's a good question, Brian. I always thought it was a 4003. What makes you think it's a 4001, and how can one tell the difference? I thought 4001 basses were discontinued in 1981. Aside from that, I thought the only difference between 4001 & early 4003 was the truss rod design, yes?
Certainly, nobody on this forum!DriftSpace wrote:... and who doesn't love JetGlo?...

The owner told me how the case was broken when I bought it: his (Joe's) band was playing with a friend's band, and they both had 4003s. They were loading-up gear after the show and Joe's girlfriend backed-up over his friend's 4003 case. The instrument was apparently fine, but the case was trashed; Joe felt bad about it, so he switched cases with his friend. I'm just glad it wasn't MY bass that was run-over by a car.YZZ wrote:I personally, would not do that.... actuallyKopfjaeger wrote:$850??? Jump on it. With both feet!!!
