Let me just say this about coily cables: I have had crummy ones that lasted only a few DAYS before they futzed out, but in 2008, I took a chance on a pair of Vox ones from Chris. These two cables have come with me on every gig since (I would estimate 175-200 gigs in that span) and have never given me one single ounce of trouble. They are, by far, the best cables I have ever used.
I like the N.S., but gun to my head, I'm going pointy.

Well, that's one way to make up your mind.

I like rounded, LOVE pointy. The 365 O.S.- was there ever a better looking guitar?

Yeah, if it has an f hole and six more strings.

To complicate things a bit...: Some of the Rickenbackers with
round horns have round horns which are pointier some years of manufacturing than round horns from other years. And even the pointy ones can be quite round... (George Harrisons first 12 string Rick has quite rounded horns)
So the
most pointy of the rounded ones and the
most rounded of the pointy ones are not that different in shape...
My Rickenbacker 360/6 FG from 1997 have rounded horns - but quite pointy on the bass side after all. Compare a 1983 with rouns horns with a 1997 with round horns and a 1997with round horns with a 2012 ditto - and you'll significant differences in pointiness.
I like both styles of Ricks btw... and Christmas in 1968 became unforgetable because I got a white coiled cable exactly like the one Jimi Hendrix used those days!

I prefer the pointy over the "toilet seat" look!
Just a joke there. The new style is a unique look. I can't think of any other guitar with a sharp edged back & a rounded top.
It's very distinct & classy...but so is is the pointy design. My vote goes to pointy though.

New style for me. NS=west coast. The OS models are more European. There is nothing wrong with that. I just prefer the rounded models since my favorite band of all time is The Byrds.

Paulie and Rich converted me, I'm a pointy guy.

Not that the toilet seat is bad, the contours are a plus in that regard, but there's just something about pointy.

Both are iconic designs that have stood the big test...of time.
Jr. will be celebrating his 50th birthday soon!

I've been struggling with this debate lately. I'm starting to save up to buy my second Rick, and I know I want a hollowbody and I know I want it in Mapleglo... I just can't choose between the 330 and the 360. (I can't afford a 381 or that'd be in the running, too.)
Does the "New Style" body make that much of a difference in the comfort level? I've noticed that some of the newer 360's seem to have "stubbier" rounded horns than some of the older ones. Is that something that's evolved over time (shorter, stubbier horns) or just something that varies from year to year? I love the pointy ones and the rounded ones.

I just got a 360/12c63 FG (pointy horns) primarily for its looks and the whole George Harrison vibe. However, I have to say that my stock 2002 360/12MG with its rounded horns and body is more comfortable to play. The c63 wins on looks though the rounded 360 is almost like abstract art with its rounded edges. Both are great guitars!

Kira and Simon, my thoughts are the same. Pointed horns for that early Rickenbacker coolness and rounded for the more modern look. Both are winners.
