Members of the Vintage Rickenbacker Rescue League -- anyone want to rescue this puppy? This guitar was initially priced at $2650 with no takers. The most recent auction ended yesterday unsold at $1900 and it's now a BIN at $1750. (no affiliation)

Ron I think this JG 950 is safe... By doing the math - in order to make a profit he has to buy them at less then $1300 in total... Most of the butchered RICS.. are guitars sold around the $1200 to $1000 range.

I was bidding on a trashed 67 330 with Gibson humbuckers out of Seattle a year and a half ago.

I bid 1040 max... He won the guitar for $1070 and parted it out...

Low BIN's are the most likely candidates for cannibalization...

Brian, I know it makes no sense for him to buy it at current pricing, but if it goes to $1300 area or so, he might.

There are others out there who part out these guitars, so he is not the only potential butcher. Some folks will pay big dollars just for the vintage toasters.

john...i feel for you. but you must realize, if you part with something , no matter how rare, the purchaser can do a pete townsend with it or use it as a wheel chock for an suv. you got what you wanted, and they did what they wanted with their property. there's no way to foresee what will happen after a sale. we can only hope for the best, yet there are those out there that need resto parts that are un-obtainable normally due to the nature of the vintage parts demand for their restoration projects, and yours happened to be a donor. just like our organ donor cards to help others in need of body parts to make them whole again after you pass on. food for thought. anyway...KEEL HIM !!!

well someone decided to save what was left of the JG 950 that started this thread.

The body, pick guard, bridge with SN and Case all sold today to the same buyer...

Sadly it looks like the wiring harness, tuners and pick ups were sold before he was able to get them..

Who ever it is that bought it best of luck in the restoration of this fine guitar!

AFAIK, as long as you tie each ID to a separate bank and email account, you can have as many as you want. Obviously the guy's a sneaky jerk and pathological liar with no ethics and a nasty attitude to boot. So I would say this is likely.

Buyer's IDs are anonymous. How do you know it all went to the same person?

They were all BINs.

They are anonymous either way. But if you look at seller's "Completed Listings," you can see the exact time of sale (day, hour, minute). The four items Brian mentioned were all bought at the same time so it is very likely all bought by same buyer.

Ron is correct. I have no idea who bought the guitar.. I just figured that a pile of "but it now" sales were the same person!
