It is not our place to get involved in customer service issues. These threads often times take on a life of their own which we wish to avoid. The RRF is making no critical comment about the service of this dealer or any other.
I totally understand , ive tried everything and it was nice to get support from the guys on here

That does sound strange.

It could be... well, to make qualified assumption it would easier with more details about the bass and setup, but it doesn’t seem like you’re in the troubleshooting mode with this bass anymore, so.
But of course, it’s annoying needing to do any troubleshooting on a new bass, especially when it has been setup by someone that should be able to do it properly.
Anyway. When they couldn’t fix it they second time, I think maybe they should
not have just sent you home with it again, but exchanged it or given you the money back.

Well, one does hear and read a lot of nonsense. One need to have a basic understanding of what to do and why, but it’s not magic. If we leave string height at the nut out of it, there are basically four adjustments; (1) adjusting string tension for tuning; (2) moving saddles back and forth for intonation; (3) raising and lowering the bridge to adjust string height; and (4) relaxing and tightening the truss rods to adjust bowing of the neck.
Patiently working on the setup step by step, one shouldn’t (usually) end up doing anything irreversible. Lots of guys here on the forum to walk you through the setup – next time

Thanks ,
i honestly think the tech in the shop messed it up, and it was more then a basic set up.
He told me that he had to fill down the frets because rickenbacker had put them in uneven
this was the Second bass , the first one he told me he had to fill the frets on that bass too and it would take a while that is why he gave me a replacement.
Im not here to try and disgrace GUITAR GUITAR
One question - Is the filling of frets part of a set up ?

This is not uncommon for many brands of stringed instruments; checking/leveling the frets is part and parcel of a first class setup, especially for someone who prefers real low action, but it is one that costs some and many players don't ante up for it.

PM sent to Grey - I am not happy with his comments.
As for the OP, I cannot understand why everyone is being so coy. Dave was sold a Ric bass which he was told was the last one in the shop, yet when he challenged that a few days later, he was given a replacement and told there were plenty in stock. If true, does that not tell the whole story about Guitar Guitar? Also, no matter how much Rickenbacker and/or Rosetti may wish to distance themselves from the retailer, surely they have some responsibility for their actions?

James it is not entirely a matter of being coy. The RRF is not the complaints department and I do not wish to turn it into one. Complaints about a dealer are better placed with the dealer and the differences between parties resolved outside a public forum such as this one. There are two sides to every story and we are not here to pick one. Discussing technical solutions is one thing, customer service issues is quite another.
