[\quote]

It ends....smoothly.
2. Has anyone ever had double-binding done to their stock 330? Would it be a very expensive project?
I've done it myself...... and kept the original FG intact. 8)
(note: I highly doubt I'll ever do it again, it was a massive pain to keep the finish clean...)

It's not hard to do on an unfinished body, just requires lots of patience and attention to detail. It's easier with the neck removed as well. Doesn't cost much for supplies, but I highly recommend skipping ABS binding and getting the celluloid. Worth every penny as it's much easier to work with.

Edit: I documented the whole binding process in my photobucket account... http://tinyurl.com/89gkra7

1. Yes, the binding looks natural and smooth as it comes to an end.
2. Geez, Tommy, now you're hurting my feelings by ignoring my previous post.... ;) YES, see below (and my previous, post):
Blue boy with silver guards.jpg
This guitar started life as a 1989 Jetglo 330, and visually, had practically attained "relic" status by the time I purchased the guitar in late 2006.
The guitar is obviously now a double bound 365 O.S. style with 21 frets, and a bound headstock to top things off. :)

You have a better picture of the binding? It's white on white? The silver plate and trc are nice, though!

Whoa, respect to those who had this done.
My God, it looks like a ton of work. But I will say the results are fantastic.

Paulie's 80s band The Blackouts played last evening and his 8) double bound Blue Boy with Silver guards looked AWESOME under the night club lighting. Previously I had seen this guitar outside in natural sunlight and under home lighting conditions -- but in a dark nightclub with little spotlights -- it looked twice as cool. 8) 8) The pictures do not do it justice ! The checker-bound headstock and black-silver Oven Knobs just add to the eye candy effect !! And it sounded really good through his Vox AC-30 amp !

Paulie, I think I'm liking this Blue Boy better than your Big Red nowdays, as the SIlver guards really accent "the look" for it !

Thanks Rich!

Keeping the paint intact with this is so unbelievably labour-intesive, but it was a cool project to try out. I know a lot of my techniques are probably unorthodox, but it worked just fine and the guitar came out great.

I'm doing another body soon, but it's stripped to bare wood, so that'll be much easier!

Those photos show a frightening experience. That is some work you did there. Something to be proud of.

Thanks, I sure am! First time doing a neck reset or binding work...I'm happy enough with the results. :)

They each have their appeal; Big Red is a louder guitar though-no pun intendedy-volume-wise. 8)
