Tailpiece Lift

Zinc is a pretty universally used material in bridges. Schaller and Leo Quan come to mind also. I don't think the material is the problem though. There are still quite a few open spaces in the current casting, while the original aluminum part was almost solid. A solid zinc one would be heavier though, but a new version in aluminum would be my choice.

That was two millimeters, not centimeters ...

You probably had the 'before' picture of my 4003S/5 Blackstar in your mind!

Yeah, I see that Dane changed it to 2mm, but he had written it as 2cm at first. That's why I was aghast! 2mm ain't nuttin'. Maybe Dane is metrically challenged.

1+!!! That would have been the optimal solution, back to the 60ies/early 70ies!!!

Actually, I'm vertically challenged, but that's beside the point

Well they did cure it in 85 or 86, the put two additional screws at the back of the tailpiece and it cure the problem, my shadow bass had it back then, problem was that the purists complained about it and Rickenbacker took them out again!

If I am remembering correctly, you can add them back in yourself. It's been decades since I have removed my tail piece but I seem to recall some structure there that would lend itself to the hole location etc. Counter sink it and blam!, you have no tail lift. I was thinking about doing it on my 4001 if the lift ever got worse, but with the new tailpiece Rickenbacker is offering I may go down that road.
