I can confirm its 4005 heaven! Its in great condition (only "mod" is the strap button moved from the top horn to the rear - John must have done this after this bass's late 60's TV appearances...), sounds just like it sounded when it recorded "the seeker" with The Who (and how cool is that???!!!) and (with a bit of help from Graham Griffiths!) I've now got hold of John's last live ashdown rig to blast it through. I'm hoping to purchase John Entwistle's talent if it ever comes up on ebay.............hmmm.
for my take on tracking down this bass sounds like you'll have to read Paul's book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck with the book Paul. I know this has been a labour of love from the beginning. :D

Paul, any chance you'll be willing to autograph these for forum members if we post them to you?

(I just pre-ordered 2.)

Sure! I'm also considering a launch party/confluence in July. More details when I get around to planning it!

Yep, we talked about a bit at lunch last week. Something about a huge blowout with Chris, The Smithereens, etc. artists that are represented in the book will be playing there, or something like that, I think!
