He says he didn't intentionally copy the Rick headstock. Yeah...don't know how that's possible.

I was referring to the cheap 4003 knockoff with that comment. Jeff is right - that 4005 knockoff is even worse, or at least as bad. Weird how he talks about it as if it was his own creation. I could see building it as a single pet project one-off, but to claim that he intends to mass-produce and SELL those things? Yeah... good luck with that one, buddy. And I can't believe all the accolades he's getting from his forum buddies over there. It's as if none of them have ever seen a real RIC 4005 bass before. This bass looks like magenta colored Playdoh squeezed through the plastic 4005 shaped mold.

Did anyone else check out the sound sample he posted? Equally as impressive. This link will download the MP3 onto your computer:

Right Rikk? And he got the name 'Leahbacker' from... being a staunch and supportive backer of his daughter Leah's efforts?

Says the "creator" of this bass, Jeff Mills:
Jeff Mills wrote:I finished this bass a few months ago. I'm proud to say it's hand crafted in USA and everything is made in USA down to the last screw. It plays and sounds just as good as any high end bass I've ever played.
Again, but this time including facts he didn't mention:
Jeff Mills wrote:I finished this bass a few months ago. (with help from Rickenbacker.) I'm proud to say it's hand crafted in USA (with parts made in Santa Ana, CA by Rickenbacker) and everything is made in USA down to the last screw. (Screws supplied by Rickenbacker) It plays and sounds just as good as any high end bass I've ever played. (like Rickenbacker, for example.)

Ugh, guys like this really get on my nerves, do they honestly think that people arn't going to instantly spot this and call them on their BS? Using Rickenbacker parts and copying the 4005 Bass shape curve-for-curve, and he's gonna sit there with a straight face and say "yeah I totally came up with this on my own, Rickenbacker who? Do they make inflatable pools or something?". It's times like this that i'm actaully grateful RIC is as agressive as it is in protecting it's patents because I can rest with the comfort and knowledge that this junk will never be allowed to hit the market.
