Does that say it is a 2006? My Deutsch is so rusty, a entire can of WD40 could not salvage it.
Spoil yourself and swap it now!

This ad is in Dutch actually.
It says that this bass was ordered in 2006...and delivered last week... I checked this bass out as you can read in my first post of this thread.

I do not expect a 2006 and a new one to be much different tonally to be honest.

that MG has full width inlays, and from where I'm sitting it looks to have a Carribean Rosewood fingerboard (could be wrong, haven't seen it in person)
It's probably very recent.
Get that one too, Mike

Sure Wim. First I have to water the money tree in the backyard
Started with the set up of my new and already beloved bass guitar. It has a few issues with string height (way to high) and me being a really hard player causing the strings to hit the pups.
Lay her down, stripped of her string(s). Not in my shop, but on the kitchen sink. One of the girls has chickenpox so I have to be around
First thing I noticed is this:
The string guides of the 1 and 2nd are off its base.
This is being caused by this:
Threaded holes are drilled off center making the string guides tilt to the side when torque is applied.
Got to fix this first I think? A real shame, I was hoping very much to play some tunes tonight.

Moving on.
That was an easy fix and looks beautiful!
American chrome used to be the best in the world...before Green became the fashion and copper was banned from the process.

And I'm finished for today. I need my shop to correct the string guides and to reset 1 screw of the bridge which is sticking out too much.
The neck looked like a bow. I read on this forum that is has to be almost straight so 1/8 of a turn on both should bring it back a bit. Other instructions came from Joey's bassnotes
It shows that a little work will bring an already fine instrument to the next level. Looking forward to continue working on this beast
Any tips would be highly appreciated, I am a complete novice on all things Ric -thanks!

A reissue horseshoe makes it even better.
And put the treble pup cover back on

It's part of the experience

Maybe on the next Ric...
I even put a plastic thumb-thingy above the bass pup. I did not even dare to make a picture of it

Goed bezig Mike. Voor al je zaken, ook de saddles, zijn hier wel oplossingen te vinden. Ik heb ze alleen zelf niet in mijn hoofd. Maar

Thx again Bert.
The saddles are not wobbly, they are just to tight because of the crooked hole. I have got a complete metal/motorcycle workshop on my own so I can correct this easily. This will be done Saturday when I got boatloads of time.
Today I have been playing around with my Ric and it does all the tones I want...and more. It sounds great on my '74 SVT and even GREATER on my touring Gallien & Krueger/Tech21 stack. And it just looks so cool, it's unreal.
Now, tonight I have made it more playable for me (can't teach an old cat new tricks unfortunately so the bridge cover had to go) and after finishing the job on Saturday I am taking it out on a gig Sunday. I have to fill in on an Outlaws/ Skynyrd type of band and man.....they're gonna be ****** for not bringing the ol' Fender

That would be the MG 4003, right?
Don't forget the .0047µF cap in line with the horseshoe pickup when you do that upgrade.
