I'd conclude from all this that Rickenbacker is a consistently good guitar maker. I was just playing my 4001--I just put in a Horseshoe and a Toaster, and I get tones of the mid-60s models--I'm thinking of Macca and Pink Floyd. The fact that Rickenbacker is still making these pups after all these years, well, it's commendable. I won't mind playing a new 330 or 360 (12 and 6 strings) one of these days when I can justify buying a new guitar.
All the world's a stage, albeit with mountains, plains, oceans, rivers, buildings, towers, animals, humans, plants, and Armour's Spam.
