Recieved a picture of the luthier today. New binding and the frets removed, fretboard laquered!
I am excited!

looking good Bram. Hey I didn't see this in the thread but do you have the red dots or black dots on the edge of the fretboard?

Black ones! I read that from august 74, the dots were black again. I have got a NL-serial, which means it's from december 74!
Re: 4001 1974 restoration

I bet you'll have that baby back real soon!
Re: 4001 1974 restoration
That's looking great, Bram!
May I also apologise for not sending you the bridge height adjustment Allen key, as I promised I would do.
To be honest, I completely forgot about it and only remembered when I read your post saying that you'd managed to obtain one with your new replacement bridge height screws.

Thanks for all the fantastic response and support! I am really looking forward to the first tone that monster will produce!!
Today I received some small parts, not all of them. Waiting for 2 more Bourns potentiometers. Here the promised picture of the Grovers! Love them!!
Now another thing... As being a poor student.. I first wanted to use the original bridge pickup assembly... Now the bass looks stunning with that new nitro-laquer, the shiny Grovers and the new control knobs, I really cannot use that old and rusted pickup assembly. The cover is in good shape, but the ring is rusted..
That's why I am looking for an other pickup surround. I have got the covers myself.
So this is the old rusted thing:
I know they are for sale on eBay, unused. If I can't find a second handed one, I will buy it. But they aren't cheap (80 dollars) and I hope to find one second handed for less!!
I someone has got the screws and springs with hold the pickup within the surround.. Please let me know!!!

Bram,
Rub the rusted area with a piece of aluminium foil and a bit of water. The rusted spots should disapear. Or at least be less visible.
