Sepp, I believe you mean 6.31k ohms, or 6,310 ohms.

Well I'll be.... Right you are. Gee this is embarrassing. Well looking at the two side by side in my own collection I concur with you. Optical illusions, though I could swear I've seen green bobbins that are short like a lipped one.
That certainly explains the distinctly different tones between the lipped and green ones.

I would think that winding over screw threads could be nerve wracking to say the least. For some reason, I thought that there was a wrap of rubber tape over the screws prior to winding. In a moment of idiocy I unscrewed an inner pole out and it was goopy with adhesive.Given the number of pickups killed by adjusting the screws this might not be true for all of them. For the record, the pick still worked when I sold the bass years ago.
If you want to see a true disaster on the level of an F5, look at the innards of a lipped bobbin; makes the screw threads on a greenie look as smooth as silk.
