I'm pretty damn excited about this!! If I pony up for one, I have some ideas of what I want to do with it. 60's spec Pups by Classic Amplification and a 60's spec harness with Ajax caps. Now what color?? Since I don't trust the UV cured solid colors and I'm not a huge fan of Fireglo so it looks like either walnut or Mapleglo.

As a matter if fact Sepp......I just got a batch of NOS 60's Ajax caps in, as well as vintage style CTS pots.

Glad to see the S model back in production!!!
I really liked the 4003w when i checked it out, except for the non-S accoutrements. I will be looking for the S models to show up in Portland....i could see a 4003wS with a back painted gold vintage style PG,toaster, and aluminum hipshot bridge as s a viable future Woody bass.
And a fretless version wouldn't be too shabby either.

Dane,

Awesome!!

Of course I'd require your services if I do land a new 4003s. I'd love to move the pup forward to the .5 spot. But I'm not going to route the body to do so. I'll draw the line there.

You'd have to route a 4003 to move the neck pickup to the 1/2" position, and I don't recommend it.

Probably could be done for a normal high gain if the neck cavity is like the 2011 4003 i had. The cavity was routed full width right up to the fretboard.

Could't be done with a long pole toaster though.

Still there would be the possibility to look for a short pole. Or convert a long pole into a short pole.

This cavity is only as wide as the neck at the base of the fretboard. Part of the body wings would have to be routed on either side of this area to allow for 1/2" spacing.

FWIW, my July 2013 Snow Glo is not routed up 'to the fretboard' and therefore the pup cannot be moved to that position (I have a 2013 RIC toaster there). One might muster 3/16" forward at best. But, that's my Snow Glo. YMMV.

If one looks past the small piece of paper towel (I use those and small hand towels to protect the finish while working) you can see the bass pick up routing on the Snow Glo. The pictured RIC HS I installed was later superseded with a Lollar HS as depicted in the first photo.

Dane Wilder built a 60's value (500/250) harness loom that I also installed. Moreover, Dane built me a second loom on his jig using 60 's value 'PEC' pots I sent him. I have that one stored.
At some point, I will send Dane some Ajax caps I have stored for another 60's value loom.

I can't tell if it's just a shadow but it looks like they've gone back to something like the 70s style of routing.

If you look at the retail price list on RIC's website, the suggested list for the S is $1899.
