I was curious about the Masonite as well - I was imagining a Danelectro-Rick mashup. (The horror!) - but it all makes sense now. Beautiful work. You could almost leave it as an MG.

Sorry about the cat. He looks pretty bad-*** in that photo.

A DanelectRic?

Thanks, and yes, he was. The first vet who ever treated him couldn't believe how strong he was. He was also the most skilled footballing cat I've ever seen and could actually throw his toys - not bat, actually throw - across a room.

It's looking great, Shaun!
I'm glad it's getting the attention it deserves.

Thanks Kevin.

I'll be honest; if I'd known how it was going to go from the outset, certainly cost-wise, I probably would've bailed too, but once you're in, you're in. I hope it's worth it in the end!

My god what the hell goes through people's minds to butcher this up so badly. I know the comments will be it's someone's bass to do as they seem fit, but come on really? Very nice and creatiive save can't wait to see this one through.

I'd just like to add at this point that working with Larry, albeit at great distance, has been an absolute pleasure. I couldn't recommend him highly enough. I feel like I've known him for years already!

I don't know him personally but would not hesitate to recommend him based on the documentation I've seen of his work. I would also not hesitate to drive to his end of Florida if I needed a luthier for one of my Ricks... :D

Agree. Here are the two restorations that Larry did for me: a '72 4001 to a bright blue version of Azureglo, and my "naked Tuxedo" (which is for sale):

Agreed, but collectors only want it if it was made by RIC. For the rest of us, there's Larry. I think he's gone to a whole new level on this restoration.

Cool thread with some awesome craftmanship.

I surely can testify for Larry's professionalism.

His communication skill is second to none and dealing with him for the restoration of my (ex) 64 4001S was a pleasure!

Cheers

The Azureglo on P.124? I didnt realize that was yours Paul. Larry and I just chatted about it earlier in the week.
