Hi Richard, nice to see you posting here. I saw Corduroy a couple of times in Blackpool in the 90s and was quite a big fan. Was a bit disappointed that at the time you were using a Gibson as I'd seen the Ric on one of the album covers (as you may have guessed, I use Rics). Great gigs & nice playing though and I still have a couple of cds.

Yeh, been playing Ricks on and off over the years.
Ist album, Dad Man Cat, was, in part, my mid-70s 4001.
2nd album, High Havoc, was all recorded with the same 4001... which was stolen from the studio; so I started using Gibson Les Pauls (I had a sponsorship).
3rd album, Out Of Here, recorded using Gibsons.
4th album, The New You, partly Gibson and a 72 4001, since sold.
5th album, Clik!, recorded using a 73 4001, since sold.
6th album, Return Of The Fabric Four, recorded using Danelectro Longhorn (another sponsorship).

But now I'm back using a Rick, the one in this thread; had it for ages but it never felt right; set up well now though.
Here's how it's ended up.

A gold back painted plexi pickguard would look great on that bass, Richard.

The custom Tom Petersson came to mind, as far as MG and gold PG goes.

My copper scratch plate (having removed the ****** white spray paint that disguised it) is actual copper, not a copper screen behind plexiglass.

Your copper PG will gain a real nice patina over the years if you just leave it be.

The machine heads/tuners are Klusons.

Those screws were used from '63 to probably early/mid '65 when they started using pan head screws.

You'll need a set of horse-shoe magnets for it to work.

It's not a '63. It's safe to say it's a '64.

Agree, a 63 would have had 4 holes on the truss rod cover.

True Jeff, but late in '63 the TRC's have 3 holes.

My biggest tip off was the lack of forstner bit routes for the cavities.
