Does anyone know what effects pedals Buck uses with his Ricks? Did someone mention a Rat pedal once before?

You're really VERY lazy;-)
Yes, I mentioned 10 posts before:
"I saw R.E.M. in Cologne on May 5th. Peter used the 360, the danelectro 12string, and a Les Paul. No 330, as far as i remember. His amp was an AC30. I was told he uses a Rat pedal and a rackmounted backwards delay or reverb unit."
It's quite sure he uses a Rat, about the delay unit I've only heard once.

I know....I should have checked this post first. Instead I did a search, which was unhelpful. Are Rat pedals known to be decent?

There is one pic of my 360 on the out-of-date gear page on my website (a combination of being lazy and spending more time playing than online recently) the gear page is
http://www.masterofdarkness.net/equiptment.html
I was using Budweiser as an example. I don't like the stuff either. I'm a fan of Molsons and Yuengling Lager myself.
As for the Rat... I don't care for them. For a Distortion/Fuzz type box, I think everything the Rat can do, the USA Big Muff can do better, and then some.

Oh, and in mentioning of the Big Muff... Peter used one of the Army Green Russian ones on the Monster album. I also believe he's used some compression and chorus as well as fuzz and delay.
On the video I have from '84, along with the 360, Peter also used a 330-12 in Burgandyglo.
I did a list once of guitars Peters been seen with on Murmurs.com's message board ages ago... quite a big list of stuff--but it is about 60% Rickenbacker.

Joseph, I logged onto Murmurs.com. Great site -- I don't know why I haven't seen it before. I couldn't find where you listed his gear/guitars. Would it be possible for you to re-do the list here? Thanks, if you can!!

was it the same guitar?

As I recall, the "Let's Active" sticker was on a Jetglo 330.
Since this thread began, I have picked up a JG 360 and put on heavy strings like Peter Buck's. I had to have the nut carved out a bit more to accomodate the larger gauge. You know, I really like my '66 Rick 335 better when it comes to the neck. It is much smaller than the 360, which is a 2002. I'm not a great player, and the smaller neck makes it easier for me to play. For the first time since I bought it, I've thought about getting rid of the 360-6 and looking for a 330-12.

Mr. Buck played a 360 on Murmur, not a 330. And I recall it was the Jetglo one, not the Mapleglo one he had on their first session here in NC. On Murmur, the amps were a little Kasino solid state thing (Pilgrimage only), and an Ampeg Gemini II. No AC30s! They came much later, and the last couple of times I saw them his amp was a small Silvertone.

Mr. Phelps: You may assure your spouse that there is no Peter Buck signature model. It think it is a safe bet that RIC has asked all those key artists who have played Rickenbackers whether a signature model is in the cards.
Peter, JH has commented on this topic. I'd have to go and search for the specific posts(s).
