Thanks to all for the warm welcome!
When I brought my 4003JG from LA to Israel way back in 92, people were talking about "this-guy-with-a-Rickenbacker". Though my yellowed 4001 was purchased second hand in Israel. There still are some cool Ricks here - I regret not getting a 73 4001FG (yes, checkerboard binding...) that was for sale a couple of years ago at a 2nd hand dealer here. From what I recall it was fairly priced too.

Ilan,
I would love to hear the tone! Any recordings?
I am happy to say I am FINALLY getting the "tone" myself! I scrapped my previous rig and went all GK, and I love it! Thanks to all who gave me compressor tips, it is just the thing I needed to add. Image

I'm in Lima PerĂº now and I'm "the guy with the Ric basses" here also. People here all want to try them, they are exotic instruments to many of the bass players here, especially the younger ones, this is Squire (not Chris) and Yamaha land here. Anything American here is almost double what it costs in the States, Mobil is doing their part to help a poor country by only charging 4 bucks a galon for gas, but a lot of that is tax.
