Bottleneck_dave, are you true to your name? I.e., do you play a Rickenbacker with a bottle slide? I have tried a slide a little bit with a 360. The issue for me, with electrics, is that electrics typically have their strings close to the fretboard. This is one of the advantages of an electric over an acoustic, and makes it easier to play fancy (jazz) chords. But close to the fretboard also makes it harder to play slide well.
I would like to set up one guitar to play slide PLUS fancy chords. My choices are only a 360 Ric and an old Telecaster. The tele has its strings down in the fancy chord setting, and the high E is too weak to play slide on. About the only strings that the slide sounds good on are the B string, and maybe the G string.

Yes, James I play slide on all my guitars (the RIC too) as they're not set up with real low action; 'round 3/32 on treble side @ the 12th and about 1/16 on the bass side. To me, that works. On the open tuned ones, the action is somewaht higher so I can "dig in" a bit more... better tone/vibrato. I play in an Allman Brothers tribute band and a classic rock cover thang. Standard tuned, I use a 10-46 set and for open G or E guitars 11 or 12 to a 48 or 52. It works for me... Keep slidin!
