Ritchie Routledge would be the one I would ask about that. I think he knows how to reach them.
I'm still hoping Mike Gregory will pop up too, one day soon.

Terry has his own website which I guess would be one way to ask !

Talking of Mr Routledge, I think Charlie Crane used to run our local pub (near Cambridge)

Reply for Malice Cooper re: The Escorts 45rpm.

Hi Maurice
With regard to the record you have found, I'm sorry to say it's not one of ours.
We only ever recorded for Fontana and and I don't remember those titles at all.
There have been and I think there still is a band calling themselves The Escorts in the USA. Maybe it's one of theirs.
A dead giveaway as to whether we did it would be the organ. We didn't have one or ever used one on record - we used a piano but not an organ.
Sorry mate - thanks for the interest in the band.
Mike Gregory ( bass player/vocalist The Escorts)

Mike: Thanks for your comments and the clarification.

We have gathered some information about the Escorts At The Iron Door Club. I would be pleased if you or any of the Escorts have additional memories of the Club to add.

Hello Everybody! Please ignore my previous post.I dont know what I was thinking  Hello Mike Gregory! It is a great honor to speak with you,I hope youre still out there.I'm hoping you can answer a question for me. Since I have never seen the actual 45,I'm wondering if Paul McCartney was actually listed as producer of "night time" on the label? Also, did he follow his M.O. and step into the studio to lend a hand in playing anything on the recording or contribute with vocals.Since I picked up the Edsel cd those many years ago I have been a fan and and do consider the Escorts as one of the leading Merseybeat groups!

Hi Guys,

Wondered if people could tell me more about this group, and especially John Foster.

John Foster is my Dad, who I am afraid we lost nearly 2 years ago and his time in the bands is something we spoken about when I was younger but I feel the need to learn more about him, and the bands he was in.

Any information, details or pictures would be great.

Thanks for taking the time

Steve

Steve:

While I was a teenager on Merseyside during the early 1960s and familiar with the local music scene of the time, I have to admit that I don’t personally recall your late father, John Foster. However, having trawled through the Bill Harry hosted Mersey Beat site – which is a veritable goldmine of information about Liverpool groups of the period – I have found four references relating to him.

The first is an article recalling the Delacardoes (1958-62) - John Foster puts in an appearance on page 4 of the 5-page article …

The second and third John Foster references appear on page 2 of Escorts founder member, Mike Gregory’s story titled “From an Escort to a Bluejean to the Circus” and again in the Editor’s Notes on page 5 …

http://mersey-beat.com/a-z/escort-bluejean-circus.shtml

The fourth and final reference crops up in the reminisces of Mal Jefferson, when in 1962 / 63 your father, for a time, sat behind the drum kit of a group called the Mastersounds …

Just came across this YouTube clip of the Escorts performing their version of "From Head to Toe" on German TV’s Beat Club during 1967 and shortly before the group disbanded …

Penned by Smokey Robinson, Columbia Records released the Escorts recording of "From Head to Toe" as a single in December 1966.

The group’s line up at time was Paddy Chambers on lead, Mike Gregory on bass, John Kinrade on keyboards and Paul Comerford on drums.
