As this thread has moved toward those artists who might get a chance at a signature model, how about considering Sam Roberts. He is an upcoming star who certainly has given Rickenbacker a high profile and something to talk about in the new wave of young musicians.

How about the Model 360SR. Here is a photo. It does not deviate from the stock model to any extent as far as I can see, however, I am sure he would like a different neck or feature that could make this instrument somewhat unique from the stock model. Made from Canadian maple and sold with ....

Wim: You might think this comment by Paul is unsavory and would put him out of the running for a signature model. However, it is to be remembered what Pete Townshend did with his Rickenbackers and the his model was very successful. Perhaps all is not lost.

I have to admit that I have given similar advice to some of my students who have asked me what kind of guitar they should purchase. The ES 335 and its derivatives are pretty versatile. However, Rickenbacker 330's and 360's should be reserved for the chosen few who are serious about developing their own sound. They simply are not for everyone...thank goodness!

Also, you can purchase a pair of Rick 330's for the price of one Gibson ES 335! Let's keep that a secret:-)

Speaking of signature models,
Maybe a Tom Delonge Signature Model complete with 1 oversized humbucker, 1 volume control, no tone control, a white racing stripe, and nothing else?

Yesterday I happened to read about the new TD Gibson ES-335. Even though I am a loyal rick owner, doing all that stuff to a really great guitar (335) is an atrocity. I wonder how many Blink-182 fans will cough up the required $2.5K required to own one ;P Maybe their parents can afford it. . .

Ah yes, but please consider that besides the pickups, an Epiphone Dot is as good as a 335... and cheaper still
