Amazing. I wonder if they will get 7K for each of them.

Well. I'm sure there are some collectors who could bowl over Ed with a trade that wouldn't have cost the collector much, but be worth more to Ed than 7K.

However, I believe he has deep pockets and will be in no rush to drop his price. Keep in mind that until you see another for sale, he's the only game in town.

I'd rather have 7 new 4003's.

With 7K you could probably buy Lemmy's bass.

Knowing Lem he'd probably swap it for a few bottles of JD (I wish!)

I think Lemmy's 4004 looks hideous with that single coil treble unit he's installed.

I much prefer his 4001, though. I wonder what he's done with it, i.e does he still gig it.

What a beast.

I see in the first photo that he's showing you what he thinks of your statement!

Thats just the treble pickup mounting ring and cover, no pickup. I argued this on an earlier post, and John Hall himself set me straight.

I guess he likes to rest his hand on the cover.

I think he's saying RIC is #1...

Henny, he still grinds on the old 4001, he is playing it in the new Probot video with Dave Grohl.

Which of his 4001s is he playing in that? He's got a few. Last I heard the neck on the original bass (i.e. the one he used in Hawkwind)went tropical (i.e. made like a banana). In his book I'm sure he also mentions that one of his roadies trashed his favourite bass; whether that was the original or the maple necked one I don't know. The original was a 4000 to which he fitted a T/bird pickup; it's the only 4000/4001-type I've ever seen him with which has walnut headstock wings (and I'm a huge fan) so if it's got w/wings that's probably the one. And yep, he does rest his hand on the cover (as do I most of the time). If it wasn't for Lem I probably wouldn't be playing bass; so I for one owe him a debt of thanks (although I reckon with the stress of all the GAS/RAS since we're even!)

Shaun,
Here is the one that is featured in the video. This picture is from 2001, but it's the same bass in the current video.

$7000!?!? Boy, pat myself on the back for making a good investment... I'll wait to see what they really sell for before I get too excited. I'm away from my computer where the pictures of the Lemmy are stored- So I'll put them up here when I get back to Massachusetts...
