
4005 Project

It is a very long tunnel. When it comes to 4001/3's I have lots of them to use for reference. The 4005 is a totally different instrument though and is largely alien to me. Very soon I will be asking for help from the 4005 owners here. I will need pictures and measurements so I can verify that this bass was not altered apart from the fingerboard. There is evidence that the neck had been removed from the body and it may not have been reinserted correctly.

The truss rod is out - finally! The wood is very fragile in this neck and I could not power tools. The work to carve out the packing over the truss rod was done with a small chisel and hand pressure only. The next step is to fill the truss rod channel with walnut. BTW - the serial number on this one has 4 digits and they are not even close the ones mentioned above.
