ditto. Geddy Lee was the main reason I decided to learn the bass, and I always wanted a Ric and finally got one last spring.

Actually I got a Ric because of Chris Squire ...

Me too. Chris Squire was, and still is, a huge influence on my sound and technique.

No, don't get me wrong - I LOVE Squire, he's definitely one of my top 5. But Geddy grabbed me first.
I don't think I could comprehend Relayer when I was 13!

agreed. The first time I heard "2112", I was hooked. I went out and bought a cheap Jap bass and started to learn the thing.

No, ultimately I took to Rick basses because of RIC, and that's the double truth, Ruth.

Actually I bought my white 4001 because Maurice Gibb had one.
But Geddy was an influence I guess.

About 10 or 11 years ago I helped Geddy with a portion of his sports memorablia collection and have had the pleasure of hanging out with him a couple of times. I see all kinds of questions about him in all different forums (Rickenbacker, Wal, Steinberger, Fender), especially why he no longer uses these basses, with the exception of the Fender Jazz. I am going to get in touch with him over the holidays and will ask him one question, per forum.
If you have a question for Geddy that you think would help this forum then ask me in this thread, since the topic is so hot. (Peter – I hope this is alright to do this in this thread with no intention of stepping on anyone’s toes.)
I will pick the best question and post his response when he (hopefully soon) gets back to me.

Whats the story on that bass Andrew? It looks to white to be an original finish,,,Chris calls it a V63,,, but the pickguard, fingerboard, and especially the horseshoe PU screams to be original vintage hardware. ???
