Mike, Geddy said that he used the Jazz extensivly, not exclusivly. He did state in a few interviews that he used his Rick on Red Barchetta, and The Camara Eye. The other songs were with the Jazz. He also used the Rick on a few songs on Signals like The Analog Kid, Digital Man and Countdown. If I'm not mistaken, Subdivisions was also the Rick.

Ok, I'm sorry for 3 postings in a row, however, I have to ask, How does the tone of a 3001 differ from a 4001? Different clanking, grinding tone? Or is it totally different?

Geddy Lee, used a 3001AG live on stage,in the summer of '76/77. Either the NME or Sounds(I cant remember, I used to buy both)featured a picture of Geddy playing his 3001 LIVE!. Ive been trying to track this magazine down as I have a vested interest, I own one of Geddys 3001s, It was acquired from Rush Tour Manager Howard Ungerleider by me a few years ago. Geddy gave him the bass in 1978. As well as the 3001AG, Rickenbacker presented Geddy with a 3001JG #QK 5013 This is the Bass I have, It came with both black and white pick guards, I have the black one on it at the moment to match the black truss rod cover although I have a white 3001 cover too., It is a fantastic looking Bass, Plays well, but I never gig it.

Here's a link to a pic which features Geddy playing the 3001 live:

It is scanned from the R30 tourbook. The site (http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/index.html) has a lot of scans from almost every tourbook Rush have.
