Paperback Writer guitar sound?

There are bootlegs of them recording the backing track for PW. After taking a listen to them here's what I hear:
John on jangly tremeloed guitar.
Ringo on drums
George on tamborine.
There is no bass on the backing track, but Paul is doing the count ins. So this would seem to mean that it's Paul playing the distorted guitar that plays the riff (as he has recently stated.). I don't believe he had his (flipped) Fender Esquire yet, so this would be his Casino.
Chalk up one more hit for the Epiphone Casino...
