Yes the green monster...They broke the mold when they made that one. Someone really had a good day at the office.
I thought that having that bass unstrung for 15 years would have been a record but Javier has doubled that! Like his bass, I,m hoping to get it back in playing condition next year. Thanks to this forum it,s a possibility that I would not have dreamed about a few years ago.

Anndrew, was this an early 4001-s, or a v63 ?

It has as unusual shape. The upper horn is different.

I'm not crazy for green finishes on guitars, but I really like teal a lot, which is what Andrew's bass looks to me in the pictures. A factory trans teal burst like that is what I'd love to see on a RIC bass.
Very different Andrew, it looks cool !

"Anndrew, was this an early 4001-s, or a v63?"

I know I'm not Wints, but it's an RM1999, an original 60s 4001S import. It must be going on for 40+ years now, btw! Image

It looks like someone has cut away the inside of the upper horn.

Thanks Mark ....
If that's the original Bridge with the mute, it would place it between 1967 and 1969, nice !!!

Still think it should go back to Fireglo though !!!

Is there a jackplate on the edge? I just noticed the jack on the guard.

There looks to be, you can see the wiring heading into the body, maybe the "extra" one was a ROS addition !!!

It has a May 64 jackplate on it, but it was converted to stereo in the 70,s hence the hole in the guard...
Javier, what,s the serial number on your bass, if you don,t mind me asking? Please post a few more shots when you find the time, especially of the rear of the bass as I,d love to see more of that colour and grain. Good luck with the work and keep us posted.

So is the bridge and mute a retro fit Andrew ?
