Not yet! It's supposed to arrive on Thursday via courier if it doesn't get held up in customs.

Hi Jeff... Sorry man but for some reason it actually ended up here in Toronto and wasn't diverted to BC.
Holy cr@p!!! It's here!!! I haven't opened it because I want it to get used to the indoor temperature and looking at my watch, it won't be opened until Saturday! D@mn! I'm itchin'... I'm itchin'...

Sorry, I just don't have net access on the weekends...
All I've got to say is wow! The first thing that struck me was how much more solid and heavier it feels than my 4001. It's probably only a pound or two more but it is noticeable. Must be the birdseye being a little denser than the maple Ric usually uses.
The finish is a VERY high gloss that I didn't expect - I'll bet that my 4001 is that "Canadian only, matte finish” that was used on the mid-70s AGs - so it definitely feels different.
Unfortunately, there was a little finish checking due to the time spent in the cold truck – and yes I waited until Saturday morning to unpack it which I’d hoped had given it enough time to get accustomed to the warmer temperature. There is a 6 inch crack on the front of the body between running towards the bridge and a few more cracks on the neck, especially at the heel. Fortunately like most checking you can’t really feel it.
I knew getting it that the wiring needed some work because I was told that the lead from one of the pickups was “sketchy”. It was noisy and did crack but still sounded great. With the humbuckers I was most worried about not getting the Ric growl, but it’s definitely there – as well as a wider range of sounds than I can get from the 4001 or the 4005. I’m certainly happy with the way the pickups sound and can’t wait to play it with the band next week (fricken’ drummer is in Mexico this week!). Hopefully, but the time I get it back from being set-up and having the wiring re-soldered (It’s in at Capsule Music right now) it’ll be perfect.
Once I’ve got it back I’m going to try and do some recording straight from the lo-impedance XLR output to see what happens and to see if there’s a noticeable difference. Here’s a couple of photos, let me know if you’d like to know or see anything else and I’ll get them posted once I’ve got it back from being set up.

Sad about the finish checking.
When I was younger and dumber(which could describe me just last week!), I drove across the mountains in Colorado(on a road-trip from Chicago to Salt Lake City) with my white 4001 in its case in a Yakima Rocketbox(fiberglass weather-tight storage box). It was BRUTALLY cold. I left the Rick in the box for at least one night, maybe a full week. I didn't take the Rick out of its case immediately after I arrived at my destination...it was a few days at least before I opened the case. But that Bass is now tiger-striped with the most finish checks I've ever seen. The entire headstock and body has cracks perpendicular to the strings, 1 to 2mm apart, front and back.
Now I'm not so keen on shipping my guitars in the winter regardless of the 48 hour rule.

It would be interesting to see a picture of the wiring configuration under the pickguard.
