What should I pay for a late 60's 4001?

Ron, there is no VG in Vintage guitar, all of them are listed only as being in all original excellent condition. They only have a 68 mapleglo, low is $2500 for that w/case. I wouldn't take their prices as gospel though they have the Blackstar as being worth only $1000. But if I were going to shell out $4000 on a bass it would be all original, I wouldn't care what it looked like either within reason, to me being all original is more important. I think the original horseshoe is the most interesting part of an old Ric.

Yeah Andrew, I see what you mean. It's all these guys on this forum that got me and I'm sure many others excited to own these beauties! I pulled the trigger on this 68 today and will receive it early next week! I was able to get some compromise in price that I am comfortable with. I'm excited to own my first Rick bass and to feel like a more valued member of this forum.
