Hmm... I hadn't seen that one yet. Too bad the finish and the bridge aren't in top condition, though, which makes the asking price a bit steep, IMO.

It says in this month's VG that he's getting in the 69 that was Jetglo over Fireglo that sold on E Bay a couple of months ago too....

I believe that 69 is currently owned by Darryl over at LOWDBASS. He has one on his websight for $4000.

Not sure if people have seen this or not, but scroll down this page and click on the links (both on the picture and where it says "4001 special") for some interesting info on Roger Glover's Rick. Not sure how accurate the information is, but there are some cool pictures.

Thanks for the link Harry. I thought that the slanted-J 4001 was Jetglo, now it looks like Autumnglo or Walnut or possibly Fireglo, definitely a burst. Wait... in the picture with the drum set, it's black again, next to an unmolested FG.

I think the burst finish 4001 is a different bass...Roger's original is definately Jetglo as you say Ilan.

I recall a story that Pete Agnew from Nazareth liked Roger's 4001 (Roger was producing them at the time ) and he had one done the same, or Roger gave him one similar....not too certain of the actual story, but Pete Agnew's was a burst finish.

I think that ties in with the story in the link that Harry posted, because I'm certain that Roger Glover had the modification done on his Jetglo before 1974....so maybe the other one is Pete Agnews' possibly once belonging to Roger Glover.

Maybe the second bass with the slanted J pups is the Fireglo hanging up behind the drumkit, later modified?

Look at the picture again - there's three 4001s hanging on the wall behind him! The center one is the Jetglo, and the one on the right looks like the Fireglo with the J pickups (next to the Firebird).

Weird webpage, huh? I forget how I ran across it - I think while trying to track down dates on the J pup mod.

Blew me away when I heard Zephyr play "Hard Chargin' Woman" at a Mid-West Rock Fest gig in either '69 or '70. We were in one of the afternoon bands and heard them that night.
IIRC Crow and REO were there as well along with a group out of Milwaukee called the Corporation.
None of them playing Rickenbacker though )o:}.
At least my 4005 and 4001 were there that day(o;}
