Bashing???? Reading backwards, I see nothing but admiration for the man...at least from me. Who's faulting the guy for leveraging his fame for a little endorsment action. If the guy could make his great music playing an Electra copy with a latex paint job, you go boy! It's blasphemous here but my Jazz also gets more use than my Rick, just a fact. It would be myopic to not acknowledge the contribution of Fender basses to the history of modern music - Jamerson, JPJ, Jaco, many others. Too bad that new ones are total ****. Hats off to Rick for not going the "overseas" route, and maintaining the quality and consistancy. I still love Ricks back to my initial comment due to my early exposure to Rush and later Yes.

Re Jazz basses, I recently saw some live footage of the band "The Killers" on TV, and the bassist looked like he was playing a GL signature (black&white w/mapleneck/black blocks inlays & Badass)and I thought his sound was one of the best I've heard recently, was very impressed. I was surprised because I know everyone here seems to think they're **** (never played one so can't comment).
But back to Geddy, I agree with Kurt; I prefer Geddy playing a Rick but he still sounds great anyway, and if the Jazz does it for him, then that's his choice. I think any artist of any sort should use the tools he feels most appropriate for the job, and if Geddy doesn't feel comfortable with Ricks anymore I guess that's up to him.

Be sure to look out for Razorlight's bassist's BG 4001, and Franz Ferdinand's bassist's JG 4001.
Boring music, characterless bass tones; but popular nontheless.
